LSU HSC Scarecrow Decorating Contest 2025
Sock Drive:
The Harry Tompson Center is located at 1803 Gravier Street and is a collaborative
day shelter designed to improve the daily lives of the unhoused community of New Orleans.
The HTC gives away, on average, 80 pairs of socks per day. HTC clients prefer black
or white quarter socks – they cover their ankles and do not slip down into their shoes.
Serving more than 200 individuals per day, the HTC strives to meet basic needs through
four pillars of service: hygiene, health, hospitality, and housing. Guests can access
showers, restrooms, laundry, healthcare, housing navigation, case management, cell
phone charging, WIFI, and more. HTC hygiene facilities often act as a gateway to greater
care. While guests are waiting in the courtyard, they can talk to case workers, volunteers,
and staff about their challenges, and HTC staff work to connect them with the resources
they need to work towards their individual goals. For more information about HTC,
please visit https://www.harrytompsoncenter.org/.
