Make sure you have a personal copy of the PST file(s) you wish to open since each
PST file can only be opened by one person at a time
The file should be on some sort of re-writable drive, like a hard drive, not a read-only
drive like a CD
While in Outlook, navigate to the File tab at the top left of the application
Once you are on the File tab, choose the Open and Export option
Choose the 2nd option “Open Outlook Data File”
Do NOT choose “Import/Export”. This option will import the contents of the PST file into
your email mailbox
When you choose “Open Outlook Data File” a browse window will open. Browse to the location where you have the PST file saved that you want to open.
This will then show up within Outlook like a Mail Folder
In left folder pane, scroll all the way to the bottom until you see the name of the
Outlook Data File, then expand it to see browse through the folders
When you are done with the Files, you can right click on the folder in your outlook
bar and choose “Close”.
It would be best at this point to close outlook so that any temp files are closed
as well.
